From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In martial arts, combat sports, and violence, a kick is a strike using the foot, leg, or knee (the latter is also known as a knee strike). This attack is often used in hand-to-hand combat, especially in stand-up fighting. Kicks play a great part in many martial arts, such as Taekwondo, Kung fu, Wushu, Karate, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Silat, Sanshou, Vovinam, Kalarippayattu, and Savate. Some arts do not utilize kicks at all, such as judo and boxing. Other arts limit the use of kicks to attacks on the legs and lower body, while some sport martial arts tournaments only allow kicking above the waist. Various types of kick are described below, but the names used to describe a kick may vary between arts. Basic kicksFrom Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What differentiates an onside kick from a regular kick beyond the obvious? Q. I understand the difference between the two but how are they different as stated by the rules. Why is it when a player on the kicking team touches the ball after a regular kick the ball is considered down yet when it is played off of the onside, possession changes. I've seen teams line up in an onside formation and kick off regularly so it can't be how the kicking team lines up. I've read the NFL rule book and the CFL rule book and can't find anything. Is anyone in the know? Asked by Aaron - Fri Jun 12 22:09:15 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is no verbiage in the rule book for "Onsides kick." This is a term someone made up a long time ago. The rules governing free kicks permit the kicking team to gain possession of the ball if it is still loose after it goes 10 yards beyond where it was kicked (in some codes it must also touch the ground). It also allows the kicking team to gain possession if the receiving team touches the ball. All the "onsides" kick does is push push the play to the edge of the envelope rules-wise so that the kicking team tries to recover just after the ball gets 10 yards. The other rule that comes into effect is that the kicking team cannot touch the ball before they can legally possess it. If they do, it's called illegal (or first) touching… [cont.] Answered by Rob B - Sat Jun 13 01:21:13 2009 How to kick off games addiction and re-focus on study for teenagers who have spending years gaming? Perhaps you can relay to him what happened to me, a game addict: I now have Carpal Tunnel syndrome in both wrists and have to have an operation. I have gained a ton of weight which has made my sore joints hurt even more. Ask him if he doesn't get tired of the boring, repetitive nature of gaming (if you really analyze it). It really makes you stupid, you're not interested in anything else, not even your so-called friends. You must try and offer a better alternative to him. After a while nothing in real life seems as exciting as gaming. I don't quite know what else to say to you. It's a bit like being an alcoholic - you have to want to quit yourself.
